Recent Events
August 14th was our 32nd annual All Corvette Cruise-In
TM
. In spite of the gloom and doom of the weather forecasters, more than 130 cars took part on a hot, sunny afternoon. More details on our
Cruise-In Page
.
A small group of ODCC members gathered to tour the Udvar Hazey Air and Space Museum Annex in Dulles on July 14th, followed by lunch at Anita's New Mexican restaurant. It's great that our museums are open again, and Udvar Hazey is truly a special one. We're blessed to have such great facilities in our area, and everyone should take advantage of them. Some photos from the day
here
.
On July 10th, many members of ODCC travelled to the Vettes for Vets fundraiser for the
Willing Warriors Retreat
in Haymarket, VA. This organization is doing great things for our veterans, and ODCC is proud that our members came out to support it. See our
photo gallery
for pictures of the event.
The weekend of July 4th, ODCC decorated our cars and took part in two Independence Day parades. On the 3rd we joined, for the first time, the
Purcellville, VA Independence Day Parade
followed by a delicious BBQ lunch. We think it's safe to say the parade of Corvettes was the highlight of the day for many spectators. We could hear the crowd talking about how great the cars were, and yelling "Rev it Up!" Which we were happy to do, of course. On the 4th, we returned for the
Leesburg, VA 4th of July Parade
. We've been participating in this one for many years, and it was clear the crowd was expecting us. "Here come the Corvettes!" was heard from many in the crowd. Click the links above to see pictures from the events.
In June, ten of our club members drove to Bowling Green, KY to visit the
National Corvette Museum
. This should be a bucket list item for every Corvette owner, so if you haven't been there before make plans to do so. We'll be doing more club cruises there in the coming years, so keep an eye on the club calendar. We were privileged to get a
behind the scenes tour
of the areas where they work on items that will go on exhibit, and store items before or after they're on exhibit. Truly interesting. While there, we also got time on the
NCM track
, which has corners modeled on famous tracks from around the world. It was truly a fun time for all. Click on the links to see photos of our time there.
As many know, Mike Furman has been the top selling Corvette salesman in the world for many years. One of our members recently took delivery of the 5000th Corvette delivered by Mr. Furman. A number of club members turned out to witness the delivery of a brand new C8 hardtop convertible! All were totally surprised to find out this was delivery #5000. See a few
photos
of the event in our
gallery
, or see a
video of the delivery here
.
