Simeone Auto Racing Museum
July 8th, 7:00 a.m. meeting time
Located in Philadelphia, PA, the
Simeone Auto Racing Museum
is one of the world’s greatest collections of racing sports cars. Through the theme, “The Spirit of Competition”, they celebrate the history and evolution of these magnificent machines.
At the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum, you can
see, hear and smell
history come to life through these magnificent machines. Our Demo Day events are typically held twice a month on Saturdays from around 11am through 2 pm. After a static display of cars inside the museum, where you can get an up close view of great racing cars, and a presentation about the cars and their racing history, museum staff will drive the cars outside to the parking lot so you get to see, hear, and smell the cars in action. And a few lucky people can win a raffle to ride along in one of the cars,
On this day, the museum will feature American Muscle, the American interpretation of the sports car: "There's no substitute for cubic inches." Featured cars include the 1912 National Model 40, the 1933 Auburn 12-165 Speedster, the
1966 Corvette Stingray 427
, and the 1970 Plymouth Superbird.
After the demonstration, we'll take time to tour the rest of the museum collection, and then head out for a late lunch / early dinner before cruising back home. Unfortunately, timing is going to preclude a visit to the helicopter museum on this trip. Maybe a future cruise.
We'll meet at the Wendy's on Route 7 in Tysons Corner. at ~ 6:40, and leave there promptly at 6:50. Anyone who wants / needs to can grab a coffee, use the bathroom, etc.
