ODCC is registered as a participant for the Leesburg Independence Day parade. As in recent years, Leesburg is limiting the number of vehicles representing an organization. Partnering with the Al Stitt’s group,
Vets with Vettes, we can have 12 entries in this year’s parade. Following the parade, there will be a group going to Monk's Barbeque for a late lunch, which all are welcome to join.
As an enhancement to our parade presence, we would like to bring back an ODCC walking group to accompany the cars and hand out ODCC trading cards to the children along the parade route. Please indicate in your registration if you can help with handing out the trading cards. The plan is for two people in each Corvette, one to drive and one who will walk. When the walker gets tired, they can trade places, if the driver can't walk, that would be one less walker by the end of the parade, or if a particular walker has the stamina, he / she can walk the entire route and not switch. If a Member chooses not to drive their Corvette in the parade, he / she could walk the parade, ride with a solo Corvette to Monk's, and return after lunch to retrieve his / her car.
To be as fair as possible, registration will be on a first come / first registered basis. Once we have 12 Corvettes registered, we will create a waiting list to fill any ODCC or
Vets with Vettes cancellations. Members on the waiting list will be contacted as soon as we are aware of a vacancy. To register, use the
Register Now button on the bottom right of this page. Only one registration per Corvette is required, but please indicate if you can help handing out trading cards.
Our ODCC rally point for this event is the Richard and Mildred Loving Elementary School, formerly named Frances Hazel Reid Elementary, 800 King Street, Leesburg, VA. We will meet in the parking lot at 8:15 A.M., with a prompt departure and cruise to Ida Lee Park at 8:30 AM to stage for the parade and decorate our Corvettes.
The Parade will begin at 10:00 sharp.
Keeping with ODCC tradition, we will proceed to Monk's Barbecue for lunch after the parade. Club Members who were not able to register for the parade are invited to join us in the Catoctin Elementary School parking lot at 11:00 A.M. for the cruise to Monk's.
